A CREATIVE MAMA GUIDE
A little spooky, a lot of crafty: an easy Halloween afternoon
Make paper ghosts, cheerful pumpkin portraits, and a kindness boo basket with a simple, family-friendly party plan.

Choose one table, three colors, and projects that can look wonderfully different from one person to the next. Set out a finished paper example so guests can see the idea, then leave plenty of room for their own version. This works just as well for a family afternoon as a small Halloween gathering.
Let’s make it happen
Paper ghosts with personality
Fold a sheet in half and draw a rounded ghost with the folded edge forming one side. An adult cuts the outline; open it and add sleepy, surprised, or smiling eyes with a crayon. Make three ghosts and attach them to a large backing sheet as a little haunted neighborhood. For younger children, offer pre-cut shapes instead of scissors.
Pumpkin portraits
Cut large orange circles from paper. Invite each person to add a face, an outfit, or the name of their pumpkin character. Glue the circles to a second sheet and add drawn stems. Try a family pumpkin portrait where everyone makes one character. Painting paper avoids the frustration of washable paint rubbing off a real pumpkin.

A kindness boo basket
Choose a recipient who would enjoy the surprise. Add a handmade card, a small book or age-appropriate activity, and an optional packaged treat after checking allergies. Deliver it directly rather than leaving food somewhere warm. Keep it about a kind gesture, not a shopping challenge.

The afternoon rhythm
Start with ten minutes of coloring while everyone arrives. Spend twenty minutes on the main project, pause for a snack, then make the basket card together. Put a drying spot beside the table and write names on the back of art before it leaves.
Make it easier
Pick only one project if guests are young or time is short. Pre-cut the pieces the night before. A quiet drawing spot and permission to watch first make the party easier to join. Skip glitter, small loose embellishments, and elaborate costumes at the craft table.
