THANKSGIVING · MAKE IT TOGETHER
Bring the parade
to your table.
A colorful paper skyline, foil balloons floating above the rooftops, and breakfast with your favorite people. This is a Thanksgiving tradition you can build together.

There is something wonderful about watching a giant balloon turn a city corner. Bring that feeling to your Thanksgiving morning with a miniature parade route down the table. The buildings become the centerpiece; a few foil stars or animals become your parade cast. Our original Parade City kit gives you the paper pieces to start.

Start with the street.
Print the kit at actual size on US Letter paper. Use cardstock that works with your printer for the buildings and ordinary paper for coloring. Measure the test square, then assemble one building before printing extra copies. A low paper skyline keeps the table conversational and leaves room for breakfast.
Lay out the street pieces along a simple runner. Leave gaps for serving dishes, and arrange taller buildings toward the middle of the table or along a wall-side buffet. Let everyone name a building or choose which taxi goes where. Your city does not need to follow a real map.
Give the balloons a parade route.
Choose a small number of foil balloons in different shapes. Stars, friendly animals, and bright circles work with an original city. If you want balloons to float, check that the selected size and design are helium-compatible; many small foil balloons are air-fill only. Confirm inflation options before parade morning.
Secure balloons individually to suitable weights. Vary the ribbon length so the shapes sit above the skyline without blocking the television or guests’ faces. Keep ribbons and balloon pieces away from children, and leave the hanging and inflation to adults. For a helium-free version, arrange paper balloon shapes on a wall behind the table.
Make breakfast easy to join.
Choose one familiar breakfast you can serve in batches, plus fruit and a drink. Set the serving area away from the craft pieces. Use the place cards to give each guest a spot on the parade route, then leave a coloring page and age-appropriate crayons nearby for anyone who wants a quieter activity.
Turn it into a little craft party.
The day before Thanksgiving, invite a few friends to make the buildings together. Adults can prepare cut pieces; children choose colors, name shops, and draw window scenes. Keep one finished building on the table as a reference. Pack each family’s pieces in a folder so they can set up their own city at home.
Let the tradition grow.
Save the buildings flat in a labeled envelope and add one new little landmark each year. Write the year and a favorite memory on the back of a place card. For Friendsgiving, switch to a low city centerpiece with gratitude cards at each seat. For Christmas, turn the same idea into a colorful winter village with paper trees and LED lights.
