A CREATIVE MAMA GUIDE
Halloween games that are more silly than scary
Play a paper-pumpkin hunt, a spooky drawing relay, and a friendly creature guessing game with simple setup.

Choose games that are easy to explain in one sentence and easy to leave when someone needs a break. You can use the same paper shapes for several activities. Plan one active option and one seated option, and keep a quiet coloring spot available throughout the gathering.
Let’s make it happen
Hide the happy pumpkins
Draw six large paper pumpkins with different faces. Place them in visible, reachable spots in one room, away from stairs and breakable items. Give guests a sheet showing the six expressions and let them point to each match. For a cooperative version, everyone helps find the whole pumpkin family; nobody has to race or collect prizes.

Pass the creature drawing
At a table, each person starts a drawing with a round body or head. After a minute, pass the paper to the next willing player, who adds eyes, feet, or a funny hat. Continue for three rounds, then invent names for the creatures. Guests who prefer to keep their own picture can finish it independently.

Guess my friendly monster
Write simple prompts such as a sleepy ghost, a dancing pumpkin, or a cat wearing rain boots. A player chooses to act, draw, or describe the prompt without saying the main word. Let teams guess together. Skip timers and elimination for a relaxed game, and make passing an ordinary part of the rules.
A party rhythm that works
Begin with the pumpkin hunt as people arrive. Move to drawing once everyone has a seat, then offer the guessing game to anyone who wants it. Stop before the group is tired. Snacks, conversation, and free play do not need to be filled with another scheduled activity.
Spend less, include more
Use crayons and paper you own. You do not need blindfolds, food challenges, loud sound effects, or novelty prizes. Adapt clues with pictures, larger writing, or spoken descriptions. Ask guests what helps them participate rather than assuming everyone enjoys surprises.
